Test Post HT: 5 simple ways to keep summer acne at bay

The onset of summer can be a nightmare for people with oily skin. Choose the right skin care products to protect your face from zits. Check out dos and don’ts to keep your skin healthy, glowing and blemish-free.
1 Wash your face only twice a day: If you overwash your face, the skin signals your oil glands to overproduce oil, making it greaser. So, limit the excessive skin cleansing so that your skin can balance itself naturally.

2 Don’t use soap: Soaps can damage the skin by making it drier, rougher and more permeable to bacteria. Chemicals in soaps are harsh and not good for the facial skin. It’s also said to be a cause of acne.
3 Look for face washes with salicylic acid in it: Facewash should be used instead of soaps but any facewash won’t do. Choose one with salicylic acid, which is naturally derived from willow bark. It helps get rid of blackheads and whiteheads. It also reduces oil production. The percentage should be at least one percent  to have enough efficacy.
4 Use moisturiser twice a day: No matter how oily your skin is, it still needs moisture to stay healthy. Look for gentle gels that are free from fragrance, colour and paraben to let your skin breathe.
5 Wear sunblock: The sun has UVA and UVB rays which initially may seem to be drying up those pimples. But they worsen the acne in the long run. Also, the sun can worsen the acne marks. Hence, using a sunscreen, especially in summers, is a must.
